Hello! This is Bhuvan & here is my story…
Moving to the mountains was always a childhood dream of mine after my parents took me to Jammu for the first time on a pilgrim trip. I remember looking at the gorgeous snow-capped mountain peak from our bus window and thinking that I want to live here forever. Fast track to the year 2006 I started my hotel management from the Institute of Hotel Management, Aurangabad (IHM-A) affiliated to Taj Hotels with the end goal of learning the tricks of the trade and eventually opening my own hotel in the mountains.
Coming from a humble background I never had the funds at my disposal to immediately move to the mountains and make my dream a reality, I had to first clear off my education loan and then save enough money before making the move. In the year 2010 I passed out from IHM-A after doing successful on the job trainings at The Oberoi & The Imperial Hotel New Delhi and started working for Marriott Hotels in Hyderabad. Later, I worked for various companies like Cox & Kings, Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) & The Leela Hotels, Resorts & Palaces. My last role was with the Bookings Holding Group, where I was the Market Head of Strategic Alliances for South Asia & Middle East handling partnerships for Agoda.com & Booking.com.
After working & saving for almost 12 years I finally did make my dream a reality and started my hotel in the mountains known as “The Himaal, Bir” in the beautiful state of Himachal Pradesh. The concept of the hotel cum homestay was born in 2015 when I met my wife, Sharmila in my company Agoda for the first time. I fell in love with her the moment she told me that she was from Nepal, and we connected over our common love for the mountains. Long story short a Delhi boy fell in love with a Nepali Girl thanks to the majestic "Himalayas”.
After dating for a whole month, we knew that we must spend the rest of our lives together, so we got married & shortly after moved to Bir in search of our dream life in the mountains. Through some ups & downs we had our son Zaroon & our dog Joey join us in our adventure in Bir and here we are trying to make you a part of our journey. Hope you will like our efforts and get a taste of Nepal & The Himalayas in our humble abode.
